World Rhino Day, celebrated annually on September 22nd, raises awareness about the importance of protecting rhinos and conserving their habitats.
The day highlights the need to safeguard all five rhino species from threats such as poaching and habitat loss. [worldrhinoday.org], [savetherhino.org]

At CVHS, Rhino Day is especially meaningful because the Rhino is our school mascot. To celebrate this special day and show their Rhino pride, students are encouraged to wear their Rhino shirts and join together in recognizing the strength, resilience, and spirit that our mascot represents.
Happy Rhino Day, CVHS! Go Rhinos! 🦏💙💛

Thank you to the parents and families who have already donated to our classroom supply drive! Because of your generosity, many much-needed items are already on their way to our teachers. Your support helps provide teachers and students with the resources they need for a successful school year.
Our drive is still underway, and several teachers still have important items remaining on their wish lists. If you would like to support your child’s classroom, please consider purchasing an item through our teacher supply registry before the drive ends on September 18,2026.

Friends and Family Campaign
Thank you to everyone who has already made a donation through our Friends & Family Campaign. We have raised a little over $30,000 so far, and hope to reach our annual goal of $80,000 so that we can continue funding the programs, events and the various needs for our teachers and students. Let’s keep the momentum going!
When you do make a donation, please remember to check if your employer would be willing to make a matching donation. Every dollar helps our school especially this year with the increase in HISD budget cuts.

In an effort to improve our fundraising process this year, we are working hard to help increase sponsorships and donations from local businesses in the community and some of the bigger corporations in town.
We are also actively reaching out to teachers and parents through a Google survey form to identify what is lacking and what may be needed more specifically. Please fill out this form and express your observations and opinions. We would really appreciate your input.
Please fill out this google form. Thanks!

CVHS PTO 2025-2026: Making a Difference for Students and Staff
The CVHS PTO is proud to support programs, resources, and initiatives that enrich the educational experience for students while providing meaningful support to our teachers and staff.
Thanks to the generosity of our families, sponsors, and volunteers, PTO fundraising efforts during the 2025-2026 school year funded a variety of projects that directly benefited the Rhino community.
Enhancing the Student Experience
Student enrichment remains one of the PTO's highest priorities. This year, PTO funding helped support activities and experiences that build school spirit, foster connections, and create lasting memories for students. Events such as Topgolf outings, ice skating event, and other enrichment opportunities allowed students to engage with their peers outside the traditional classroom setting while strengthening their connection to the school community.
Supporting Classroom Innovation
The PTO continued its commitment to empowering teachers through Teacher Grants and classroom stipends. These funds provided educators with additional resources to purchase classroom supplies, instructional materials, technology enhancements, and hands-on project resources that may not be available through regular school budgets.
Showing Appreciation for Our Dedicated Staff
Recognizing the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff is an important part of the PTO mission. During Teacher Appreciation Week, the PTO organized special events and treats to celebrate the educators who make a difference in students' lives every day. The PTO also provided holiday care baskets and gifts to teachers and staff, bringing festive cheer and expressing gratitude for their continued commitment to CVHS.
Improving Comfort and Campus Support
PTO funds were also directed toward practical campus needs. The purchase of mobile air conditioning units helped provide additional comfort and flexibility for classrooms and campus spaces when needed. These investments contribute to a more positive learning and working environment for both students and staff.
Investing in the Future
The PTO proudly continued its tradition of awarding Senior Scholarships to graduating students. These scholarships recognize student achievement and help support seniors as they pursue college, trade school, or other post-secondary opportunities.

Every fundraiser, volunteer hour, and donation contributed to these initiatives. Together, our PTO community continues to make a lasting impact on students, teachers, and staff, helping ensure that CVHS remains a place where everyone can thrive.
Thank you to our families, sponsors, volunteers, and community partners for making these accomplishments possible. Your support helps turn ideas into opportunities and strengthens the educational experience for all CVHS students.
